Bowerman believes the platypus can have been resting beneath a rock when the serpent found it. Because the platypus actually didn’t scent and had not gone into rigour mortis, Bowerman believes the communication was a present one. And the battle in between each animals was most certainly quick.

“There wasn’t too much damage on the platypus. You could imagine if it was a male with venom spurs it would have put up quite a fright,” he claimed.
