23 patients admitted in SMS hospital
Currently 23 patients are admitted in SMS Hospital. Some patients are recovering very fast and can be released. While talking to the media, the HOD of Burn Department gave information about the health of the injured. He said that at present there are 23 injured admitted in SMS Hospital. 3 are currently on ventilator. Skin transplant has been done for 2 patients, this will increase their chances of recovery.
Skin applied to two patients
Skin transplant is necessary because in such cases the burn victims’ own skin is not available. Therefore, we take skin from the skin bank and apply it. This increases protein count. The risk of infection decreases. Although the body rejects this skin in 2 to 3 weeks, till then it provides a lot of relief to the patient. At present we have applied skin to two patients. If any other patient also needs it, we will apply it to him also.
