Rajasthan Rajya Sabha by-election 2024: In the by-election held for one Rajya Sabha seat from Rajasthan, BJP candidate and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu was declared elected unopposed. On Tuesday, the Principal Secretary and Election Officer of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Mahavir Prasad Sharma gave the certificates to Yogendra Singh Tanwar, the licensed election agent of the elected candidate Singh and licensed to obtain the certificates on behalf of the elected candidate.

It is thought that Ravneet Singh Bittu was the one candidate on this by-election. Congress didn’t subject its candidate on this election. Three candidates filed their nomination
As per the schedule, the final date for withdrawal of nomination for Rajya Sabha by-election was 27 August. Three candidates had filed nomination for this election. Out of those, BJP’s alternative (dummy) candidate Sunil Kothari withdrew his nomination on Friday.
Nomination of impartial candidate was cancelled
Independent candidate Babita Wadhwani’s nomination papers have been rejected throughout scrutiny on Thursday. After this, BJP’s Ravneet Singh was the one candidate left within the by-election and his election was sure. The opposition get together Congress had determined to not subject a candidate on this by-election.
Bittu will stay a Rajya Sabha MP until June 21, 2026
By-election has been held on the vacant seat after Congress’ KC Venugopal resigned after being elected as Lok Sabha member from Rajasthan. The time period of membership on this seat will probably be until 21 June 2026. There are a complete of 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan. After Bittu’s election, BJP and Congress now have 5 seats every.
